IT Master Plan - ITMP, this document has a term of 3-5 years between implementation. And this document is a document in general IT, although still contains many aspects of business. Contents of this document are as follows:
- The context of the IT business - the general views of the business aspects of an IT organization
- Business processes - explain and compare best practices in the industry related to business processes that have been there.
- Application Architecture - explains in detail the use of applications in every business process.

Some other themes that other supporters include is usually supplied, IT Audit, IT Governance, IT Security and IT Process.
IT Plan Details - ITDP, not as 2 previous document, this document is to focus on the action Plans, the IT development plan in the coming 1-2 years. This document is absolutely still in the development framework that has been directed in detail ITMP and ITSP. ITDP generally contain many business case in the form of overview and explanation of the play strategy development related to the business case.
Back to the client at the beginning of my last note, they intend to draw up action plans a maximum of 3 years to plan future development of their IT. And because the scope of their business and unis that national, ITDP is vital. Also, because of the assistance fund in one of the United States government agencies.
I would like more information about the methodology, the preparation of the third document? There are several good books for the academic who became a guide, namely:
- Anita Casidy - A Practical Guide to Information Systems Strategic Planning
- John Ward & Joe Peppard - Strategic Planning for Information Systems.
In both books there is no separation in explisit from ITSP - ITMP - ITDP, but the methodology used in both books is very solid in helping us understand how these documents were prepared. The separation occurred because it is ideal if deemed aspects of implementation.
